JDP-3 Form

Report of the Qualifying Examination and Advancement to Candidacy for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology

This form must be initiated online through Adobe Sign (by the SDSU Program Coordinator) and signed by each committee member indicating whether or not the dissertation proposal defense has been passed.  Once this form has been completely processed and filed with UC San Diego Graduate Division, the student will receive a completed copy of the JDP-3 Form as well as an Advancement to Candidacy Letter.

Steps to Complete the JDP-3 Form:

1. Email the JDP Program Coordinators when you have successfully passed your dissertation proposal defense (please include the date of your proposal, mm/dd/yyyy).
2. The SDSU Program Coordinator will initiate the online JDP-3 Form through Adobe Sign. The form will first be routed to the dissertation committee chair then to the rest of the committee for signatures. All committee members must sign indicating whether or not the proposal defense was passed.
3. Only once all requirements for advancement to candidacy have been met*, will the Co-Directors sign your JDP-3 Form.
4. After your JDP-3 Form has been approved by the Co-Directors, it will be routed to you to sign. Once your electronic signature has been submitted, a $50 Advancement Processing Fee will be posted to your UCSD TritonLink account. Please make sure to check your account and pay the fee in a timely manner.  Note: The UC San Diego Program Coordinator will automatically reimburse you through a UCSD stipend once they get notified that you have been advanced to candidacy.
5. The JDP-3 Form is then routed to SDSU and UC San Diego for approval by both Graduate Deans.
6. Once the JDP-3 Form has been signed by all parties and filed by UC San Diego Grad Division, you will be advanced to candidacy. A copy of your JDP-3 Form as well as the Advancement to Candidacy Letter will be filed in your JDP student file on SharePoint. A copy of the Advancement to Candidacy Letter can also be found in your UC San Diego Grad Division Student Portal.

*PLEASE NOTE: In addition to the dissertation proposal defense, students must also have completed all core coursework, passed the Clinical Comprehensive Exam, and passed the Major Area of Study Comprehensive Exam in order to advance to candidacy.
