Eligible graduate students may obtain Graduate Student Loans through the Financial Aid Office at either SDSU or UC San Diego but not both. This choice is up to the student and does not depend on where their mentor is located. We encourage students to inquire about financial aid at both universities and make a determination about which one bests suits their needs. Note: Foreign students are not eligible for Graduate Student Loans.
For more information about student loan eligibility and how to apply at either University, please refer to the Financial Aid & Scholarships page under Student Life.
The California State University system has a Forgivable Loan Incentive Program for doctoral students interested in teaching careers in the CSU system. We suggest students also consider applying for fellowships or research grants whenever possible.
