Areas of Research

Johanna’s research interests focus on the neural correlates of cognitive biases and emotion dysregulation that influence the development and maintenance of psychopathology in youth. She is specifically interested in using multimodal assessments (e.g., neural, physiological, cognitive, socio-emotional) to examine how these mechanisms explain the manifestations of issues such as changes in attention, memory, and information processing, that contribute to the experience of internalizing disorders and suicidal thoughts and behaviors.

Bio

In Fall 2021, I matriculated into the SDSU/UC San Diego Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology to study neural correlates of cognitive biases and emotion dysregulation that influence youth psychopathology. Specifically, I am interested in using multimodal assessments (e.g., neural, physiological, cognitive, socio-emotional) to examine how these mechanisms contribute to the experience of internalizing disorders and suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Additionally, I have high interest in using machine learning and advance data science techniques and was awarded NIH T32 Grant Fellowship in Training in Advanced Data Analytics for Behavioral and Social Sciences research (TADA-BSSR; T32MH122376).
