Dr. Lisa Eyler, professor of psychiatry and director of the Sanford Institute’s Center for Empathy and Compassion in Medical Education at UC San Diego, is being recognized for her achievements in multiple leadership roles through YWCA San Diego County’s Tribute to Women & Industry (TWIN) Award.
The TWIN award encourages advancement opportunities for women in the workplace by spotlighting the exceptional achievements and efforts of women who hold integral positions in their organizations.
In addition to her work at UC San Diego, Lisa is also the director of the Mental Health in Aging Unit of the Mental Illness Research, Education and Clinical Center at the VA San Diego Healthcare System, where she mentors students, supports federally funded research projects, and implements and prioritizes compassion into medical student curriculum.
Lisa’s additional leadership roles include leading the Department of Psychiatry’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Action Council, serving on the UC San Diego Women in Health Sciences planning committee, leading the Health Sciences’ EDI Ambassador group, previously advising for the Chi Omega chapter at UC San Diego, serving as a Girl Scout troop leader, and leading the Clairemont Coalition on Homelessness.
