Ilse Fleischer presented her poster “The Effects of Choline Supplementation and Exercise on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder” at the SDSU research symposium S3. Ilse also presented her research at the Western Psychological Association convention in San Francisco. Her poster was titled “Choline and Exercise as an Intervention for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder“.

Vanessa Thomas presented her research at the Western Psychological Association convention in San Francisco. Her poster was titled “Cognitive Control Dysregulation in Young Adult Binge Drinkers: Behavioral Indices and Oscillatory Neurodynamics“. She also gave a talk about her research at the SDSU research symposium S3.


Alicia Assang presented her research at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology’s annual convention in San Diego. Her poster was titled “Connection and Culture: The Effect of Burdensomeness on Social Withdrawal”. Alicia also presented her research at the SDSU research symposium S3. Her poster at S3 was titled “The Relationship Between Burdensomeness and Social Motivation”.

Ashar Abdallah and Devanshi Upadhyaya presented their poster presentation titled “Spatial Clustering of County-Level Implicit Associations between American and White Identities” at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology’s annual convention in San Diego.

Athena Cisneroz presented her research at the Western Psychological Association convention in San Francisco titled “Associations Between Acculturation, Screen Media Use, Body Appreciation, and Eating Disturbances Among Preadolescent Latinas: A Mixed-methods Study“.


Ashar Abdallah presented her research with her labmate James Peterson at the SDSU research symposium S3. Their poster was titled “Exploration of the Motivation to Control Prejudice towards Arabs/Muslims at Individual and County Levels”. She also presented her poster at the Western Psychological Association convention in San Francisco.

Chih-An Bian presented her research poster “”Feeling Comfortable”: Communication Microculture in Faculty-Led STEM Research Labs” at the Western Psychological Association convention in San Francisco.

Belén Gamiño presented her research at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology’s annual convention. Her poster was titled “Social Networking Site Usage and Needs: Effects on Social Connectedness and Perceived Loneliness”.

Devanshi Upadhyaya presented a research poster at the SDSU research symposium S3. Her poster was titled “Beyond Borders: Understanding Cross-Cultural Variations in Implicit Skin Tone Preferences”.

Matthew McArthur presented his research at the Western Psychological Association convention in San Francisco. His poster was titled “Caregiver Conflict, Screen Time, and Childcare Challenges: Unraveling the Effects of the Pandemic on Children’s Vocabulary”.

Liana Manriquez presented her poster “The Effects of Choline and Exercise Treatment on Anxiety-Like Behaviors Following Prenatal Alcohol Exposure” at the SDSU research symposium S3.

Megan Morillas presented a research poster titled “Parental Anxiety and Depression: A Source of Bias or Sensitivity in Ratings of Child Psychopathology?” at the Western Psychological Association convention in San Francisco.


Noemi Garcia Rodriguez presented her research at the SDSU research symposium S3. Her poster was titled “Investigating the Effects of Family Structure on Early Language Acquisition”. Noemi received the Provost’s Award for being one of the top poster presentations in the College of Sciences!

Rebeca Jimenez presented her research at the SDSU research symposium S3. Her poster was titled “Neighborhood Adversity, Special Support, and Depression and Anxiety Symptoms in a Low-Income Migrant Community on the U.S. – Mexico Border”. She also presented a poster at the Western Psychological Association convention in San Francisco titled “Engaging low-wage hospital workers in the design and implementation of a depression and physical activity intervention: The Be Well at Work-Plus Study Protocol”.


Rosalva Romero Gonzalez and Lilibeth A. Flores presented their research poster at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology’s annual convention in San Diego. Their poster presentation was titled “Social Feedback Promotes STEM Career Interest Through Different Mechanisms for Racially Marginalized vs. Majority Students”. They also presented posters titled “Faculty Prosocial Affordance Beliefs Promote Science Identity for Latinx Student Research Assistants in STEM” and “Perception of Peers Prosocial Affordances Related to Feelings of Authenticity for Student Researchers” at the Western Psychological Association convention in San Francisco.

Francesca Rodriguez presented her research at the Western Psychological Association convention in San Francisco. Her poster was titled “Predictors of Appropriate Parent Involvement in a Transdiagnostic Intervention for Youth Anxiety and Depression.”

Lauren Depaul Trumbach presented a research poster titled “Moderated Mediation Model of Self-Efficacy, Types of Social Support, Disease Impact and Depression in Fibromyalgia“ at the Western Psychological Association convention in San Francisco.

Olivia Mota Segura presented her research in San Francisco at the Western Psychological Association convention. Her research poster was titled “Do I Belong In My Research Lab? Examining The Potential Role of Culturally Aware Mentoring on Science Identity and Career Interest Through Belonging Uncertainty For RMM Students In STEM.”
