Advice for current MA students: Open science methods are your friend; absorb as much as you can from your advisor; pursue collaborations; if you like teaching, take advantage of any opportunity provided to guest lecture, lead recitation sections, et cetera; more stats knowledge, the better; cherish your time in the program–it goes by quick! Keep in contact with your cohort. Never know when it might lead to a future collaboration, or when someone else’s expertise may come in handy.

Advice for current MA students: If you are interested in a Ph.D. program after earning an MA, strengthen your statistics, research, and scientific writing skills. Also, develop connections with your professors, you can have more than one mentor. If you are not interested in a Ph.D. program after the MA, that’s okay too 🙂 Follow what feels right to you. Use every resource available to you.
