Former psychology student Jeffrey Treiber was awarded a merit based fellowship entitled the Neurosurgery Research and Education Foundation (NREF) Medical Student Summer Research Fellowship (MSSRF).
It is funded by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS –http://www.aans.org/) Twenty allopathic medical students across the United States and Canada are selected for a two month Neurosurgical research fellowship based on their academic record, CV, proposed project, personal statement, mentor’s CV, letters of evaluation from two faculty neurosurgeons, and from a medical school dean. It is considered extremely competitive and it is a big deal among neurosurgeons.
Treiber’s proposed project is entitled Imaging biomarkers of cellular proliferation in glioblastoma. In other words, he will be examining the relationship between molecular signatures of cellular proliferation in malignant brain tumors and diffusion restriction on MRI.
