The Department of Psychology provides students with the opportunity to pursue three B.A. degrees in Psychology. Two of these degrees include the option to specialize in Industrial & Organizational Psychology or in Neuroscience.

The Preparation for the Major (pre-major) courses are the same for all three degrees in Psychology; however, higher minimum grades may be required for certain courses for students choosing to have an emphasis in Industrial & Organizational Psychology or in Neuroscience.

See the SDSU course catalog for major requirements for each of the psychology pathways:

Note that to be advanced into the upper-division major, students must complete (1) prep for the major courses with particular grades (listed on the pages linked above) as well as maintain (2) an overall GPA of 2.50 (most paths) or 3.00 (emphasis in Neuroscience).

Please see our Psychology Major Requirements page on our Major Homeroom for information on how to declare a major in psychology, detailed guidance on the impaction criteria, as well as an overview of the upper-division requirements for each of the three majors/emphases.
