Julia is a first year psychology graduate student in the MA program, studying under the supervision of Dr. Emilio Ulloa. She won two awards for two different poster presentations at this year’s Western Psychological Association (WPA) convention: The WPA award and the Psi Chi Regional Research Award. The winning presentations were titled: “ARE OPTIMISTS BETTER OR WORSE AT READING RELATIONSHIPS?”, Julia F. Hammett & David A. Armor & “CHANGES IN RATES OF IPV AND RELATIONSHIP SATISFACTION”, Julia F. Hammett, Emerald R. Smith, Danielle N. O’Neal, A. Remington Gonzalez & Emilio C. Ulloa.
For the Regional Research Award, eligibility is limited to paper/posters of which the first author is a Psi Chi member who did empirical based research. There were 12 research awards given out at WPA and Julia received one of them.
Julia works in the Youth Violence Research Lab with Dr. Emilio Ulloa. She also works as the graduate assistant in Psychology Undergraduate Advising with Dr. Emilio Ulloa. She will be applying to Ph.D. programs this year in Clinical Psychology.
