Megan Morillas is a 2nd year master’s student working with Dr. Robin Weersing. Megan was selected as a Quest for the Best Vice-Presidential Student Service award in recognition of her academic excellence and contributions to the university and the community. Megan’s research at SDSU has centered on improving the mental health of families with anxiety and depression, focusing on the downstream impact of treatment on family conflict and parent symptoms. During her time in our master’s program, she presented three different research projects on this theme at national conferences (as first-author) and has been a lab leader in training undergraduates and peer-mentoring them in their own research projects.
While maintaining this level of research productivity, Megan served as the University Senate Representative for the Graduate Student Association and devoted significant effort to the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Foundation, where she mentors youth in the community to enhance their communication and leadership skills. In addition, she has volunteered for numerous departmental committees and panels and volunteers at local children’s hospitals.
Congratulations to both Megan and Dr. Weersing!
