Congratulations to the winner of the 2024 Parker Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Paper in Psychology, Ashley Simard!
Ashley Simard graduated Summa Cum Laude in May with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Neuroscience. She double minored in statistics and the Weber’s Honors College Interdisciplinary studies. She was an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Ksenija Marinkovic’s Spatio-Temporal Brain Imaging Laboratory for three years. Here she was able to participate in the Summer Undergraduate Research Program in order to contribute to her Undergraduate Honors Thesis. Her thesis entitled “Binge drinking is associated with altered neurobehavioral indices of cognitive control: fMRI evidence” focused on how binge drinking in young adults has neural implications to executive functioning. She was able to present this research at the SDSU Student Symposium. Following graduation, Ashley will pursue an MA in Psychology at SDSU and continue working with Dr. Marinkovic.
